M4 & M16 Disassembly

No matter what you need to fix or check inside the gun you'll be pulling off at least this first plate. Start by taking out all 16(!) screws on the magazine/side plate that doesn't have the key in it.
Congratulations, all the components face away from you and are inaccessible. Let's take a closer look around the motherboard, though, to see what you'll be futzing with.
Towards the back of the gun you'll find an almost completely inacessible screw holding the motherboard in. If you think that's bad, though...
...then just try finding the screw at the front of the motherboard. There is no way you'll get those screws out without a few more steps first.
Flip the gun over and take out the top 5 screws of the key-side magazine plate. When you're done flip the gun back over again, but make sure to hold the magazine and trigger assembly in place.
Now that the magazine assembly is loose you'll notice that it's a lot easier to get into the motherboard screws. This picture is of the front screw. Note that the magazine can now be moved out of the way.
Four quick screws will let you take off the cowling, which will earn you nothing except a view to the scope power cable and gun sensor.
